    Vern,

I know. I looked it up on your site. image

This one's a restrike, though. I specifically asked the seller if it had anything stamped on the rim and he said no. Get it in, and it has "Bronze" stamped in to it. It's okay, though. I like it anyway, and it was only $34.

The good news is that's a fair price for a restrike. The bad news is that you didn't have his legs broken for lying to you...

Why would any seller lie to a customer about a $34 medal? If he is that hard up for a sale he is in the wrong business and I'll bet he just lost a customer, it defies all logic on the part of the seller in addition to the obvious moral implications.image

I'm not sure he deliberately lied. If you just take a quick glance, the stamp isn't that easy to see because of the patina of the medal. I did send him an eMail telling him he should look more carefully in the future, though.

Both are beautiful, but I'm especially fond of the reverse of the first one image

Russ you should consider a type set of Napoleonic 1, 2 and 5 Francs as well as a type set from the coinage of the 100 days. I was outbid on what I thought was the most common of the 5 Francs by over $900. It would be a change without accented hair, but these coins can have inconsistent strikes that add to the chalenge of grading them.

So old Nap was an emperor AND king? I thought, as a product of the revolution, he didn't want to claim the title of king. Please excuse my ignorance; I never liked Napoleon too much and therefore never got into doing much research on him.

Watch out, I think Russ is developing a Napoleonic complex.
