I'm Disgusted!!!!!

I've ordered 55-64 proof sets from 2 different coin dealers who will remain unnamed, and both times received opened packs, with spotted coins, and some of the packs interior seals were broken with 1 coin touching another. I HATE THAT!!! Why can't I just get pristine packs when I'm paying the money for them!

Does anybody know where I can get some decent Proof and Mints Sets?

Sorry to hear that. You might try the Buy/Sell/Trade boards.

I agree. Try the Buy/Sell/Trade boards. I'm sure you'll have better luck.

The shop near me lets me look at the packs before buying. A shop or show might be the best route so you can see the coins first.

If you're looking for unopened, it's a gamble of what you get.

I'd return the ones you bought since they were opened AND lousy, but sold as pristine.

Let me know the dates you are looking for, and I'll take a look at my inventory.

  • Thanks for the support. I will wait for a show to come before I buy. My heart can't take any more disappointment. I thought at least if they were unopened, I know that someone couldn't "cherry pick" sets and send out the garbage. But I understand there is risk to that also. Anyway, thanks again.
I've been interested in a set of Proofs from 1953-2003, but I really like the 50's and early 60's Silver sets.
  • My wife has proof sets from 1941 to now. Most of the 50s-70s sets we've seen are not that great. Going to a show is a good idea. Many dealers will be happy for you to look through their sets and you should be able to find some that are decent.
