Just how do you redeem older Irish coins/notes for Euros?

I understand that all Irish Republic coins and notes issued before the conversion to the Euro are still redeemable with no deadline for redemption set. Does anyone know just how redemptions are done today? What is the exchange rate used for the redemptions?

Old Irish banknotes and coins can be converted into Euros at any Irish bank or at many banks around the world. Just ask your bank if they do conversions most do. 1 euro = .787564 Irish pounds and by 9th February 2002 the changeover to the euro was completed in Ireland. However, you can still cash in older notes and coins.

I failed to ask but how old is the old coins and notes you're speaking of? IF the coins and notes are from the decimal coinage (1971-2000) issues I don't think you'll have much trouble. Before that (1928-1970) you may have a wee bit of trouble with those.
