Coin Vault on home shopping network.

Hello. My name is Kevin, ive been around these forums for a year. Recently Ive just been visiting and not posting much. I've been interested alot in marketing, (How people market things), and I have heard about how big of a scam Coin Vault is on HSN's Shop at home network. It's available if you have cable TV. Seems like the show is always on. I've heard these shows are a big rip off. I was watching it today, and I remember him trying to sell a MS 64 morgan in a NGC slab for $124.00, I don't know if that's a good deal or not, but it seems like a bit of money.

I collect gold coins. Recently, when moving to a new town (and to a bigger city), I stopped by at an antiques store. Surpisingly, (I've never seen any other antique store that had gold coins) the coin store had gold coins, all in Good to VF, XF condition. I remember seeing the coins, they were all $5 either libertys, or indian head $2.50. I know it was probably unsafe to buy from an antique shop. The man did know what he was talking about, though. I only had $10. He had a mexican coin called a fantasy coin. It was very small. He said it was real gold, but the coin wasn't real (to be used in spending) or that it had no legal tender.

I ended up buying a gold bar. I can now say I own a gold bar image
It was a 1 gram gold bar.

Gold bullion coins sell for a tiny premium over spot price and conversely you get a fair deal when selling at a small discount to spot. I actally enjoy HSN to watch, but keep in mind that TV overhead is higher than any other type of dealer. A good idea might be to save up and when visiting a major city, buy your gold coins certified at a rare coin dealer, or a major bulion trader who posts "buy" prices daily. There are several on 47th street in NYC, as well as some major bullion traders in business at least 10 years. The coins in the store were probably fakes bought at estate auctions, where dealers dump their counterfiets. There is piece of mind in liquidity/purity afterall.

GCL - I'll guarantee you that it's a common date Morgan. In an NGC MS64 holder, it's a $40 coin at best. If you go to any decent size coin show, you can get all of these you want for $30-$45 or so.

Edit: Last week CV had the complete set of SAE's in PCGS PR69DCAM holders (no '95-W though). "Blow out" price? $2,995 plus S/H/I. Realistic retail price if you shop a bit for each one, about $1,500 or so.

Stay far, far away from CV.
