Negative Feedback?

How long do you typically wait before leaving negative feedback? I have an auction that ended with a buy it now on May 4th...the buyer emailed me said he would paypal on tuesday the 10th. No paypal as of today, and no responses to the emails asking him what's going on, and to please let me know so I can prevent hitting him with a negative feedback (I've only left one negative in my years on ebay).

He doesn't have a great feedback rating (93.7), and at least one negative has been for non-paying.

I was thinking if by tuesday the 17th (a week after his promised payment and nearly 2 weeks after close of auction), of dropping a negative.

What do you all think?

    93.7 percent is AWFUL feedback. Axtell, I have had just one bad experience with this kind of situtation. I sold a 78 Molitor PSA 9 that was sniped at the last second by somebody who grossly overpaid. I got many promises but no payment. Turns out the buyer backed out of many auctions at the same time after paying for multiple auctions previously. I negged him and so did 7 others before and after i did. I hope the buyer is just on an extended weekend!!! good luck .......

    First, I would file a non paying bidder status. this will get your fees back and if he does not pay he will get a non paying bidder strike from ebay. then I'd leave him a negative if he does not pay after this. negative feedback does not get people kicked off of ebay, the non paying bidder strikes eventually will.

    I have the same issue, except I sent payment on May 5th and seller says he has not received payment. What do I do if he still has not received payment say by early next week?

    How did you pay?

    If by check stop payment on check and send him a new one with tracking.

    Money order? I suppose there is a way to deal with a lost money order......I suppose you would have to have the money order receipt, and then deal with the issuer.....................send him a new one with tracking.

    file an 'iten not received' through ebay. I have not used this myself but it's a newer option ebay has added for buyers.

    Send a threatening letter to ebay saying you want money from them for the item.

    I had the same problem once & ebay recommended contacting by phone first & I believe they told me 30 days but you can just go to live chat & talk with them about proper waiting time. Whatever you do,, do it through ebay`s services and keep copies of all correspondence in case he appeals the negative feedback.

    That is why I only use money orders or cashiers checks to pay !! I then have the receipt that I can copy/send to the seller immediately ! No waiting on the bank to send it to you & then send to seller. You have proof it was sent, but after it leaves you, its up to the mail system. If you use cashiers checks, (for large amounts it would be best) it has the sellers name on it. they can`t argue with that !! Some bank money orders also have it !!

    1st I would file for the contact phone and address info (even though you do not plan to call them) because they also get the notice from Ebay that you got the info, which oftens kicks them into high gear to payup, so that they do not have to get a call from the seller

    if that does not work in 3-5 days
    2nd, I would file a Non-paying bidder notice with ebay and that will begin to get the buyer notices from Ebay to pay you.

    and lastly
    I would only give the negative AFTER you have completed the Non-paying bidder report and gotten your credit back

    I have had to do this 5 times in the past. this is what I have done, and I have NEVER had a negative given back to me.
    My suggestion is that you NOT get impatient and just Neg him. Then you will Absolutely always get a Neg back in retaliation.

    I've been patient because (a) it's only a couple hundred bucks and (b)I don't taking giving negs lightly.

    I had forgotten about the non-paying bidder thing; getting the fees back will help, but now I have to go through and relist, just a pain. And now having to watch who's bidding just sucks.

    I appreciate the help; I've filed the report asking for their info, and hopefully that kicks him into either mailing me and telling me he isn't going to be able to pay, or pays up. Either way I get resolution. I plan on waiting till tuesday to file the non-paying bidder report.

    Thanks everyone for your help. As convenient as ebay is, people like this just make it a pain sometimes.
