    Look at the 1859 Canadian cent date carefully, especially the '9'. There are many varieties of this date, some quite valuable.

    ok, the nine is slightly raised from the 8 and 5. it is also larger. The one is larger too. The bottom curl of the nine curves up and almost touches the top circle of the nine.

    Post of pics really helps. Think we've got wide 9 over8. First pic shown. The end of the "leg" doesn't quite touch the circle of the nine, bot the hole in the circle is more round and the 9 is wide.
