Imbedded Mintmark Buffalo

BuffaloIronTailBuffaloIronTail Posts: 7,510 ✭✭✭✭✭
Those of you who study Buffs are aware of the 1915-D Imbedded Mintmark in David Lange's book.

I wonder if anyone knows, or has try to submit this one.

My coin is an EF.

    Hi Pete,
I also have a XF. It has been slabed by ANACS with the FS RPM #1 on it. I don't know if PCGS or NGC will.

    Vetter-
That 1915 is a good coin. Rare and can be expensive.

The most commonly encountered of these "imbedded D" coins, at least in my experience, is the 1916-D.

Excuse my ignorance but what is an imbedded mintmark? Can you post a good pic of one?

Close, but not quite. While the mint mark is certainly pushing up against the letter C, it really should be merging with it.

The true 16-D (imbedded MM) has a clear portion of the D overlapping the C in CENTS.
