    What I've gathered it is only the denominational side that's being modified slightly; the national side remains at the mercy of each EU member nation. Now some countries have made one-year changes (Greece, Spain, Finland, Austria) on some of the €2 coins as a type of commemoration, but nothing permanent that I know of.
