How could i have LOST a.....

57 topps card i needed so badly for my set. #59 psa 7 dick williams. I know i bought it..i gave the guy pos feedback....what gives?? I know it was supposed to comewith 4 other i bought on different days from mickey's sportscards but after going through all 400 some 57 topps graded cards i own....for the second time....IT WAS NOT IN THERE.

I went through ALL my graded card..maybe its with the 57's ive discarded cause i upgraded....after going through all 50 or so of them...NOPE...notin there...WHERE IS IT!!!!!

I emailed mickey...hey mick...please make sure you dont have this card in stock.....

now what do i do...I FEEL SICK...im on vacation and i should be feeling good...and now i go and look at my 57's and WHAM....IVE LOST A CARD!!! How can i lose a dag on card.

5 hours later

Well....let me go check out some box i kept and should have thrown away cause its all tore up...but havent gotten around to simply carrying it to the trash like i should have over a month ago...here it is...in the top of my closet...HEY!!!! its from

Mickey's SPortscards....now i will have the proof based on the 2 invoices i have in there that he didnt send it....ok here is one day..3 57's...got them....here is another...1 57....got that...HAHA!!! HE NEVER SENT IT!!! Now I will goemail him and see if he still has it.

WAIT....whats this?? OMG.....

Yep..sitting in the bottom of the box wrapped in its own seperate invoice is none other then the PSA 7 Dick Williams.....#59........which should have been THROWN OUT long long ago with that box that i had stuff trash in and just thrown in my closet hap-hazardly cause i was not close to a trashcan at the moment i originally opened it....

this card will always be special to me now...my official Dick Williams 1957 topps story...

time invested in looking for the card...5 hours
time inveted in writing this thread....couple minutes
time to always laughing at my stupidity when i see my 57 Dick Williams displayed with the rest of my 57's....

ETERNITY

    Loth,
but didn't you feel great when you found it? Good story. Good to know I'm not the only one who loses stuff.

That story is almost as good as the guy who left his $864,000 winning superfecta ticket on Derby Day next to the tote machine. He remembers leaving it there and then it's gone(this was friday). So him and the guards start going thru bags of trash looking for a $1 quick pick ticket with the winning combo. Fortunate for him the teller had seen him earlier making the bets and saw that he had left a couple of tickets there. The teller saw him later on Saturday and gave it to him. I hope the guy gave the teller a good tip!! As for me I had CLOSING ARGUEMENT AT 70/1 to win. He ran 2nd (as usual for me). I still cashed a healthy place and show. That just paid for my grading of about 80 cards on their way to PSA and some that are already thereimage)

Loth - what a great story with a happy ending. I was right with you all the way through. I'm always thinking, where'd that card go? It couldn't have gotten far - it's on foot.

My "found in the box it came in" story goes back at least 10 years - I bought a lot of 20 Ripken rookies for $99.00 out of an SCD ad from Texas Sportscards when the rookies were going for about $30.00 (?) each. I got the cards, tossed the empty box in my closet, holdered the cards and put them away, knowing I had made a huge score. Years later, I was emptying the closet, came across the box and opened it. Inside was a note from Texas Sportscards, saying that the ad was a typo, but since it was advertised, they were happy to send the cards.

I have forever thought that was the classiest thing I'd ever experienced, even though I didn't know about it until many years later!

    Good story Mark
    Still got the Rips?
I bought like 5 from them around 92 but don't remember what I paid? Still have them.

Yup, still have most of them. They'd probably pull 8s and 7s; don't think there are any 9s in the bunch - image
