75 Mini Box - 1st 4 packs ripped Results......

Oh my god.....This IS way better than sex. First of all, I apologize for not having a scanner. It's so lame not to share in this with me....But, my writing will have to do for now. Opened the bottom 4 packs first, to check the MINI Man's theory on Brett's. No Brett's - but pulled nicely centered Gibson beauty, T Perez, Yaz, all 8's at least, maybe 9's. The 2nd to last card in pack 4 was a sweet Ryan #500. It is off just a tad l-r, I can already see the slab 9OC.

Stay tuned for packs 5-8.

PS - The piece of 30 year old gun was better than the 78 OPC gum. But, nowhere near as good as the Heritage gum.

  • Now, I'm bumming a bit. Not much good in packs 5-20.....Tons of MVP cards - 9s, I am sure. Garvey, Seaver, Bench - - but, no Brett, Yount or Aarons or Carter's yet.....Centering overall is very very nice though..........Stay tuned

  • Well guys, I am done with 36 packs. But, not without a saving little surprise in pack 35. Thanks God. An absolutely beautiful Brett. It is a 9 for sure - 55-45 front and back centering and very very sharp corners. It has to be a 9. Also, in pack 35, a sweet Munson -a tad off top to bottom - a chance at 9, but maybe 9OC.

Significantly, the commons are terrific and when I have more time, will hopefully find a handful of 10 candidates, but plenty of 9s for sure. The best part of finding the Brett is that you feel that you can really trust GAI grading these to be unopened. Also of interest, no Carter, Rice, Lynn, Schmidt, Aaron or ANY #1-7 Highlights cards to speak of. Bummer on that - I really wanted a nice #1 or #660 Aaron. Oh well.
I felt like it was opening up a K-Mart set, as I got a dozen or so of the MVPs cards - all nice.0

I mentioned that Steve threw in a 82T vending box. No Ripken, but too bad it's not 82 again - a handful of Von Hayes, Hrbek's and Johnny's Ray's....Also, got some nice Rose AS, Schmidt and Jacksons.

    Summary, with my predicted grades

    Brett PSA 9
    Ryan #500 PSA 9OC
    Munson PSA 9
    Killebrew PSA 9
    Winfield PSA 9
    Bench PSA 9 (maybe OC)
    Yaz PSA 9
    Morgan, T Perez, 2 Ryan K Leaders - PSA 9

    Beatuiful commons!!!

I think I lost $$ unless the Brett sells for primo coin. I will likely keep it anyway.

You got VERY lucky on your box! To hear someone got that many nicely centered cards is unbelievable! Congrats on having the balls to rip that box. So, if you have any dups to get rid of, I have small wantlist image Im not over-particular about the centering as long as they arent miscut.
Now go buy a scanner for 100 bucks, will ya! We want to see some of these beauties!

    Steve,

Congrats! Wasn't that worth the price of admission image So your Brett was on top, well that can still be mingled with my theory.....Top or Bottom might be the way it is? lol......guess will need more input to pin it down image I hope you get your 9 nq on the Brett image

It sounds like you had a well centered group of cards image

If you have them graded by PSA I would be highly interested in PSA 9 (nq's) of the Killebrew #640, Yaz #280, and Gibson #150, and Winfield #60. If you get 9 (nq)'s in MVP card #'s, 202 - 1964 MVP, 206 - 1968 MVP, 207 - 1969 MVP, 208 - 1970 MVP Let me know! If you were lucky enough to get a Ryan 9 (nq) #500 that would be especially sweet. Anyway, I'd pay you some good money for any of the above in PSA 9 (nq's). Check out my #1 finest 75 Mini Set on the PSA Set Registry and any commons you see in my set that are PSA 8 I'd need in 9 (nq's) My e-mail address is available at the Set Registry as well. Would love to hear from you when you get your grades back.

Best of Luck to you Steve!

I'm glad you got a nice Brett -- certainly proves it wasn't a searched box -- but I'm surprised there was none of either Yount, Schmidt, Carter, or Rice. Just the way it goes. I don't know what you paid for the box, but the Brett will sell for $650 or more if it's graded 9. I would do some cost analysis on grading the rest. PSA's running a $5 special right now, which is a no-brainer on your projected 9's and 10's, but you have to wait at least 45 days.
