The BGS board trolls gave me free advertisement

Okay, so they're mocking me over my GAI hockey cards that I listed last night.
I listed BGS, PSA, SGC, and GAI. Only my GAI got the bashing, but I got a ton
of hits from the thread image

haha there are some funny posts:

"No, not every company should be lumped together with one another, but I think the wise card collector looks almost exclusively for BGS."

Dang It! I wanted to reply.. what a bunch of chowderheads. I did like the comment about PSA / BGS grading Sheet cut and Trimmed cards. I've had more stuff rejected by PSA as being trimmed/altered than BGS has ever rejected. And I've never seen a sheet cut card (I'm assuming the poster was referring to OPC Hockey) in a PSA holder. Not to say they don't exist, but it's seemed to me they were the first to reject them...

BGS not giving out multiple 9.5's or 10's to one submitter...to that I say HA! How many names would they like... BMW, UnklBnz, joejackson, kardsharx... run their submissions once or twice and see all the 10's with...strangely...10 & 9.5 subgrades, except on surface, then notice the occassional 0 in the mix... You can grab 1 serial number from their auctions, head out to the BGS site and you'll see Final grades of 9.5, 10, 10, 9.5, 0, 9.5, 0, 10, 0... Hmm, guess those 0's were trimmed but the rest were legit. Give me a break.

EaglyEye, good luck with your GAI card. Personally I like them, but I don't get as much for them as I do my PSA or even BGS graded counterparts but I think they grade accurately. It has been said a million times here, most posters on these CU boards have forgotten more than most of the idiots over there will ever know. There are some quality posters over there, but they are definately fewer and farther between.

I have never read a thread over there - and now I have gone and wasted some valuable synapses that I may never get back.

I think my last post got in for the thread to get locked. It just got deleted then locked.
I only had 2 posts (now 3 after the lock) prior to it being locked so maybe they didn't
like what I had to say and locked it. No profanity or anything. I mentioned
crossovers and results from them, and how I wouldn't spend a dime for BVG products.
Someone no likey likey that. I also said that if GAI products wanes due to public perception
and if they're out of business within the next 5 years, then so be it. I'm slowly cracking out
my GAI cards and they'll eventually find a new home with one of the other 3 services. I know
that most GAI 10s are not pristine. Maybe under 25% from my crossover results to SGC, but I
still think that most of the 10s are probably high end gem mint (if there's such a thing if they had
subgrades). What I'm doing is keeping my GAI flips after I crack them open to show non-believers
of what it originally was along with the new holder that it will be in. I couldn't do that with my SGCs
because I sent the whole card holdered in for crossover review. I have 2 orders coming in from PSA & BGS
with cards that I cracked open from GAI. I'll share the results when I get them back.

  • Hey EagleEye, that poster (Fullbag) is EXACTLY as his ID amd email would indicate. I had a run-in with him about a week ago over some Hockey autos we were going to trade/buy. He is arrogant, rude and just a general all-around tool.

I am now on his "banned" list. Losing sleep over that...image

COLLECTING (other than belly button lint):

-Evgeni Malkin (when Pittsburgh pays the bribe money, er, ruble)
-Heath Miller (the new TE bullseye for Big Ben)
-Sport Kings in off-grade PSA (for you vintage freaks)

I, too, think the wise collector should focus strictly on BGS cards. Because BGS will never, ever grade trimmed or sheet-cut cards. And BGS will never, ever decide for business reasons to flood the market with 9.5's and 10's. BGS 9.5 will forever remain a one-in-a-thousand grade, and PSA 10 will forever be just about impossible. Yeah.

I learned one thing tonite - I wouldn't survice 30 seconds over at Beckett!

I will say tho, there was a guy who used to post here who was very intelligent who asked me over there - I just never got around to it - and now after reading that thread - well, to keep my sanity, composure and self respect - it would be best if I stayed out of harms way.

I post both here and there (primarily the Baseball boards). The hockey boards are a bit harder to say what you think due to the Hockey Magazine editors posting there on a regular basis (so BGS bashing is a no no). The baseball boards are pretty much the wild wild west though.

...and the football boards are the traveling circus. If you can stomach it, all the kiddies come on to play from May-Sep, that's when it really gets fun. I have to take a self-imposed break during the summer months. Lucky for us, the circus doesn't make a stop in this town... well, at least not as big of a circus, just a few sideshows now and then. image

Think of the BGS posters, a lot of them, like a room full of "dabighurt"... spewing company speak for all the world to hear.

It is amazing the different world those kids live in over there, isn't it?

I agree with Mike - I want the 5 minutes I wasted reading that thread back.

Just remember, most of them are still in denial about BGS grading sheet-cut OPC cards. Plus, most of them have never heard of the Burge's, etc. of the world, and think that the people who get the high grades "must have a great eye for cards". Right...
