For resale, no. The best you'll do is make $20 after grading, and that's if it gets a 10. For crossing over I can't see anything wrong with it, centering is awesome. Probably would get a 10 and would be a great addtion to your collection.
For some reason, I never actually believed that those were SGC flips. Nowhere on them does it say SGC. It says SG. I could be wrong as wrong could be, but are these the old flips? or newer flips? All of mine have said SGC, and the only times I see these flips is with football rookies, like Stadium Club Favres and this Marino

You know I was thinking the same thing. It just said SG, no C. I know nothing about SGC but that factored in my decision not to buy it.
I would personally shy away from buying any SGC card graded during that period...lets just say that the company experienced a few growing pains in the begginning. Their former managment was "questionable".
As i understand it SGC will not guarantee that those cards will recieve the same grade if you send them in to get a new holder. So basically if the card its trimmed or otherwise doctored, they will NOT buy it back.
So while a modern SGC graded card will probably cross, these first generations cards might have some issues, especially the high grade ones.
To be on the safe side ( considering the value of this card) you should only buy SGC cards that have the website adress on the flip.
However, SGC has little presence in the modern market, if it didnt cross to a PSA 10 then it could take you a while to sell it at the price you bought it. You should just buy a PSA 10 or about 5 PSA 9's ..lol, you can always play the crack roulette.

The card is an absolute blazer. Although for what he's asking for it I wouldn't buy for more than $400 if I wanted to crack it open and resubmit to someone else. It's a gamble, but I'm a gambling man myself. I saw the card earlier, but that's more than what I would want to spend. Looks solid to me.
I can also agree with what calleocho said regarding the old flips and their old standards. When I first got into the grading game, I used SGC. I had a 1992 Skybox Shaq RC SGC 98. Had it for a couple of years and had an accident with it, and the holder cracked, but the card wasn't damaged so I decided to send it back for re-holdered. I get a actual phone call from SGC saying that they can re-holder it, but they can't give it the 98 grade. The guy said one of the corners looked a little touched or whatever and I went off on him saying that "you guys guarantee your grades". That's when he said that their standards have changed since back then. Anyways, I told him to eat it and keep the card and whatever as I was steamed and they can just hang the card on their hallway and so forth and I hung up.
I get an email the following day.... they said that they would reholder it as a 96 and they also gave me 18 free submissions. Yes, 18 free which really surprised me. It was like them paying fair market value for the card if they admitted that it was graded wrong. Of course that won me back....not immediately, but eventually.
I have heard some mixed reviews on their current managment. But that seems rather standard in the grading industry. They lost their main grader a while back, i thought that was really gonna hurt them but i dont think it did much, their core is very loyal, but its also very small. I keep thinking they are going to fold, but they just hang in there.
However i dont think they have changed much, SGC still there digging their pre war niche. (make that pre WW I ) they get killed in the goudeys and play balls
I prefer PSA, but i am grateful that they have some competition, its good for everyone.
SGC just never really seems to gain much market though its been years now and they just dont have the presence, i cant believe how much GAI material you see out there and they are supposed to be the new guys...
Most collectors trust SGC and probably has a cleaner rep than GAI, but they just dont really sell. A couple of good prices here and there but horrible for your everyday common and non rare stars
they are always a step behind every innovation in the hobby, PSA created the registry, then they did. PSA graded cards with the Authentic label and then they later did as well.
Its like they are happy to be followers, a second ( now 3rd) place company in the industry.
they are horrible at marketing and the prices of their graded cards suffer a lot because of this. To think that their only vocal dealer is BMW its just sad, that guy alone made more people hate SGC than anything
some people are OK with this though, I myself do not buy to resell, but i do realize that one day i will wether because i need the money for something else that its more important or because i want to change direction in my collection and believe me i will want the most for them.

I can't see it be worth that, but maybe in a bgs 9.5 or 10 certainly would be
