1992/93 Fleer Basketball rack box - one of the rarest Fleer boxes ever?

I remember ten years ago how scarce the box was (with the red hot Team Leader inserts). There weren't very many made to begin with.

What do the boxes sell for now days? It's been ages since I've seen one for sale (or seen any real quantity of them). There's a few racks for sale here and there on Ebay, but that's about it.

Does anyone collect the Team Leader inserts or have nostalgia for the set?

Your're talking about the 92/93 Fleer series 1 racks. I looked into these for a few hours recently, but if memory serves me correctly, it was fairly easy to thumb the pack and see who the TL card was, and sometimes you would get a Larry Johnson insert instead. The card was almost always the next from bottom card in the last pack. I think the majority of them got busted when the Jordan reached $300 back in 94/95 (?). I still like these cards and always have, but with Jordan's going for $30-50, there's really no reason to buy the racks for $5-10 a piece and take a chance they're searched. I remember trying to complete all the 92 TL sets and found the Baseball by far the easiest (still, Griffey's went for $40+ at one time), basketball very tough, but surprisingly football was the toughest. However, the football had only a few stars in the set so definitely not as desirable.

    CD's,

Have you broken any 92/93 Hoops or Upper Deck lately?

I got a box of each today from Dave and Adam's Cardworld. The subsets aren't worth much, but it's still pretty fun for $30 or $40.

Honestly, I broke so much of that stuff in 92/93 that I'm still feeling sick of Shaq RCs. Out of all those "can't miss" RCs, only Shaq has any collectibility now. Amazing how Laettner, Mourning, Sprewell, Miner (Baby Jordan- uh huh, he sure panned out), Horry, Walt Williams, Gugliotta, and everybody else never really maintained all star status for more than a year or two. It's a shame becuase the card companies really went all out that year to come up with new gimmicks. I loved those Magic's All Rookie Team cards in Hoops.
