1941 goudey, could anyone share some info?

Anyone have any extra info on these cards?

How rare they are?

what price- range does a mid grade card go for?

were they printed early in the year or in the second part of the year?

were they being distributed when the U.S got involved in WWII ?

here its a picture, i had never seen them before and i thought they were pretty cool, I think they come in at least yellow, green and blue?

any other colors?

are all the backs blank?

  • These cards are rare even in PSA 4. That card could go for $80 to $120. Higher grades go for $200 to $500 based on player! Check the Population of this set. Its very low and back then 1941 was not popular, therefore not many exist and if so not in great condition. If you see these cards (raw) that look in the state of PSA 7 or 8 ,check them closely as they may be re-prints. Krazy

    thanks Crazy,

I checked the checklist for the set and could only find a couple of HOF, Are you sure that the cards are rare or its this the case where the set just doesnt have much demand?

  • Believe me they are rare! The set has only two Hall of Famers,Hubbel and OTT. There were only 175 Graded by PSA and the highest grade for your card is a PSA 7,none higher. There were four colors and each player will be in each color and if you wanted have a master set(Meaning every card and every color you would need 132 cards. The present collectors just try to finish 33. If you put your card on Ebay with abuy it now for $80. it would be gone fast. These cards were printed and released prior to World War II but were competing with the 1941 Double Play and colorful Playball cards that were much nicer and goudey gum was about to go out of businss . I have a PSA 1 Clift Krazy

I wish this card was mine!

Legacysports has about 5 or 6 of them on the bay right now and i was thinking of maybe trying to get one.

I actually found them while looking for some 41 playballs.

I just started collecting a nice midgrade diamond stars set and have become very interested in baseball cards from this era.

cards from the 30's and 40's are just so full of color and interesting characters and cool poses.

Its like second wave of classic designs, after all the great t- cards and e -cards from the begginning of the century the teens and twenties really didnt see too many baseball sets that could be considered atracttive.

besides the 33 and 34 goudeys some of these cards can be had somewhat cheap in psa 3-6.
