The first listing sold for $8100. but bidder did not pay.
Second listing got no bids with starting price of $6999.
This listing has taken off........Seller has gotten lots of media attention. There was an AP article in my local paper about it plus the card is on the cover of the upcoming issue of Beckett Baseball.
Don't be surprized if Golden Palace casino buys it.

I have no idea what this will go for, but @ $23k it's already a nice little profit on the box.

Imagine the press if it actually sold to that guy and he didn't pay? Or to whoever the high bidder ends up being? My guess is it will get listed at least one more time and sell for half this amount. Just like the 1/1 Bron/MJ logoman from Exquisite last year.

<< <i>does anybody regret not snagging it at $6999? >>
Yes.

<< <i>Isn't the new Pope quite old himself. This might be a good time to get an autograph of the new pope. >>
You got it Koby
I was kind of joking with her but my feeling it that she would feel it "improper" to ask for his autograph?

p.s. dear God, i'm only kidding about selling it.( but i would trade it for a psa 10 mantle.)

I think you are entirely wound too tight on this one. First of all, no one said anything about buying and selling the autograph. As it goes for me, I am a collector and not a seller - I would rather give someone here a present rather than take the time to sell.
Discussing the opportunity of getting an auto at an optimal time is part of what a collector does - but what the hey - hell is for heroes.
I do see your point tho - there may be the potential for irreverence here - but that was not the intent.
I don't think, neither Koby nor I meant anything by this talk.

I'm a RC and can take it with the best of them - heck I posted on another forum this:
I thought Mondale looked a little like the Pope - so I mentioned he finally "got a job for life" LOL
BTW, if you want your irony to reach the audience for sure - give one of the "big grins" or something
Most will get it then IMO and not see it as a shot.

I'd love nothing better than to use one of those icons, but a few years ago I took a vow to never use any smileys. It's been a long road, but it will be worth it in the end.

Odd that this would go for so much.
They probably all would have been NPB anyway.

<< <i>What happened with this? Wasn't the bid up to over 100gs on Friday? Did a bid get withdrawn? Or am I just confused again? Still, looks like a missed chance to turn a $65,000 profit. >>

I would say someone withdrew a bid? Still 72K aint bad! Especially for something pulled out of a pack!
Personally, I can't see it being worth that kind of money.

Lee,
That sounds like an interesting story. Any more details? Or are the smileys and such just too cutesy for your taste? I am amused at all of the popular abbreviations my jr high kids use with their IM buddies ... they go way beyond LOL and IANAL!

<< <i>If he winds up becoming a "Saint" - that price may seem cheap? Did he sign much stuff. I was talking with someone who is going to the Vatican this summer and is part of a group which will be meeting with the Pope. I told her to get me an autograph!
mike >>
I heard that JP2 didn't do too many shows, and when he had his weekly audience he didn't sign very often. There were so many people in line he only had time for one sign......that of the cross, a symbolic auto if you will.
Now for the really irreverant joke.....VU (Vatican Used) bloody gauze?
