I just got this in the mail and I'm very pleased and proud to show it. The book is neither expensive nor hard to find but having it auto'ed by the Mick is just the best...to me!
I wish I had just focused in on the Mick back in 1988 - my time and money would have been better spent...I guess? Heck, I've had a great ride over the years! I can't think of anything I would rather spend my extra money on. And I can't think of a better place to spend some time time each day than here at PSA!

nice pickup, Mike! I dont have any mantle autographs, i also wish i'd picked one up several years ago..
these 3 came pretty recently..
Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch
and a couple of boxing auto's.. Jersey Joe Walcott and Jack Dempsey..
I got back from a week in Montreal to a pile of boxes that took two trips to get upstairs. 100 card NS submission, a run of Rails and Sails high numbers from Mickey's (all but one were exactly as described), a pile of T29s, a couple dozen Horrors of War cards, a stack of cards from my buddy Bob - a run of nrmt '71 high numbers, a stack of Topps Battle cards to start a new registry set. Wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow!!

The mask is just a replica. The real one is sitting in the hockey hall of fame. Don Scott of vintagemask.com did a pretty good job on it.

You picked up some really nice raw 56Ts - the Minoso is great! He was the only player to have at bats in 5 different decades - he came up in the majors in the late 40's and got his last AB's with the White Sox in 1980 - of course it was a promotional thing but still cool considering he was almost 60 when he came to the plate!

indeed.. thats why i bought it.. the Duke was king of all water sports at the time.. olympic swimming, diving, water polo, and i first knew of him as a surfer!
Very nice framing! I'm working on that myself - haven't started yet but it will be expensive to have pics and stuff professionally framed.

Now let me share with everyone what happened when I got this in the mail the other day
I received this white envelope and couldn't make out the return address and I thought it was something
I won from Ebay obviously. The return address was written in printed letters and extremely horrible I must say.
All I can make out was the M. something and from San Antonio, TX. However, my name and address was
written beautifully in elegant women/girl style handwriting. Upon opening the envelope, there was a "post it" stuck
to the card and the note read "Hi Bryan, hope you enjoy the card" Signed-- "Your Friend, Hydee or Hidee????
The post it was also in nice woman/girl handwritting. I sat here scratching my head at first thinking that a seller
had sent me the wrong card because I didn't win this card. I checked my files and I'm waiting on 5 auctions I won.
4 of them are coming from Canada, and 1 from Colorado. So who the hell is this Hydee or Hidee from San Antonio, TX?
My only conclusion was maybe it was a past Ebay customer of mine sending me this card as a thank you gesture as I usually
send bonus cards with their purchase(s). So several hours last night, I was still thinking about this card and the sender
and it was driving me crazy. I don't know anyone from TX....much less a female hockey collector; so I took the post it note
and showed it to my wife to confirm what she thought was the name signed. She too thought it looked like Hydee or Hidee
and then started to question "who is this Hydee sending you cards?" I told her I had no idea and got a "A-huh....sure" and "whatever".
I told her I had no hockey mistress living in TX and she was messing with me for about an hour last night during American Idol.
Anyways, Mike PMs me today and asked if I received the card which clears things up and I also showed it to my wife.
The bottomline is, Mike writes like and chick. So if anyone else here gets some girly writing envelope with cards in it; just tell
your significant other that it's Mike. His penmanship is fabulousssssssss.

Admittedly, when displaying my 1957s on the wall, they do tend to have a flat, underexposed earth tone look to them. Except this card with its beautiful blue sky that provides a nice contrast/backdrop compared to most of the other cards of the set.

Fantastic! That's what I'm talking about...the art of the card...finding something you really like rather than just going for the star - there's nothing wrong with getting the top dog or anything - it's just nice to pick up a card...irregardless of value...and enjoying it!

edit: that's one hell of a 6 - the most underrated sets IMO will be the well selected PSA 6 sets which were also picked up at great prices!
Yes I did get the whole set, but the first group were Gophers Hockey players/coach. The rest are here:
The set actually came with two autographs per player, but I don't think I'll end up keeping both copies of each player.

Needless to say, I am pleased and I now understand why they charged me $110 for shipping.

I just started the set last week. Have 10 of the 100 in house and waiting on two more in the mail. Not an easy set to track down -- especially in the upper grades. If anyone has any leads (other than go search eBay) I'm all ears!

It's a nice set - I only have the Louis which I picked up over the winter. I will say, I like the way the card looks in the SGC holder.
