Finally! 1965 Philly football 100%

I finally finished my 65 Philly football set.
image
Am still working on the other 3 Philly years, but I had to share this accomplishment and thank all the fellow footballers on these boards who have helped me out. From Peter Lalos (who sold me my last card #192 J. Nisby), to Dave Pacha (who always gives me a heads up when he sees a card that I need). Duncan (pack_collector) who also always kept a lookout for the cards I needed, and other dealers/collectors such as NearMint, Mint state, Itzagoner (from Ebay) and last but not least Frank Evanov (who has been the nicest/easiest person to deal with, or is that Maryimage
If I left anyone out I apologize. The bottom line though is that I would never had completed this set or be as advanced in my other sets, if it wasn't for the friendship and camarderie of the participants on this board. I'm always looking to upgrade and I still need to finish my other football sets, so keep in touch guys!image

How long from start to finish?
  • How long from start to finish?

Good question. I would say about 2 1/2 years. I could have finished this set sooner but I was working on quite a few sets at the same time and I wasn't as aggressive in the early months of building the set. Once I began to realize which cards were tough and which weren't, I was able to adjust my bidding.
I'm one card away from finishing the 64 Philly set too. If anyone has card #110 M. Tinglehoff in PSA 7, 8 or 9, I'm a buyer.image

    Frank,

You may need to change your user name from fabfrank to phillyfrank here soon.

Those 65 Philly's are tough, congrats on that 100%!

  • Mickey's Sportscards breaking up a 65 Philly set.

The NFL signed its exclusive contract with Philadelphia Gum Co in the mid-60s leaving Topps with the lesser establish AFL. The Philly sets feature the dominant stars of the 60s including those great Packers, Browns, and Colts teams. We are breaking the former #7 set on the PSA Registry - lots of low pops and some key 9s too!

    Peace
