How does GAI grade Wax Boxes.... Criteria?

Hello all,

In a retaliatory move to all the wax boxes being busted I am looking into buying a wax box of '80 topps from bbexchange. I don't know jack about the grading process, but assume a graded box is better than a non-graded box, however the prices are identical for the graded versus non-graded boxes of '80 topps?

Does GAI grade the box or the contents inside as well? A 9 grade is reflective of mint box or the cards inside being 9 also?

Thanks for any input
Julen

Just the box. There is no way that they can grade the cards inside a sealed pack.

I think he meant the packs inside the box.. do they have a bearing on the overall grade of the box..

I don't know for sure but I'm sure they do. I can't imagine that they would grade say a box from '79 a 9 based solely on the condition of the box itself. It would suck buying a GAI 9 box to find a bunch of banged up packs inside that would grade no better than a GAI 6.

Regarding Vending Boxes, are these usually sold sealed or not?

    Do they even come sealed?
