New Entrant to 1985 Topps Football

Brian's '85 Set

Finished updating my recent acquisitions...the 63 card lot from ebay and the nice lot (including the Marino).

Just wanted to wave hello...and knowing I'll never be able to touch MOSH, I look forward to completing this in 8.50+.

  • 85 Topps Football- an underestimated set to say the least. 10's may be out of the question, but shoot for the 9's. You should be able to piece that set together in PSA 9 for a reasonable price.

I am SLOWLY building the 1985 fb set and 4SC has cheap 9's from time to time. A while back, I bought 10 PSA 9's for under $40. The wax is starting to get expensive. I have only graded a hand full of cards from 1985, and done fairly well. No 10's but several 9's.

    Good luck.

Good start! If your patient, your strategy will payoff.

Anyone have any extra '85 Topps Football PSA singles for sale? I'm stuck @ 71% complete, and Brian needs PSA 8 commons.

Can you imagine how much greater they would have been if there had never been a USFL?

    Yes they were!

Open those boxes and submit - there's gold in those boxes!! Actually, if you concentrate on the low populations or no population cards, you could make a generous profit. The set is more popular than ever.

If you can pull a 9 payton, the last several has sold on the bay for $250 each. Very high demand for some of these cards, and the prices being realized right now are nuts.

The '84 set could have had Steve Young, Reggie White and Jim Kelly RCs. With the other HOF'ers, that would have been an amazing set!

Well got my 20 packs today from BBcexchange, and as I noted in a PM to Marcus, a good 2-3 cards were ruined from gum and wax. Luckily, no star cards were in that mix...losing the cards to gum and wax should be expected from product 20 years old.

I pulled a Payton, Elway, Moon, 2 Dickersons, and 2 of the montana/marino leader cards that have been very hot lately on ebay.

All in all a good mix, would have liked to see a Montana and/or Marino, but no complaints...an overall good mix. There are some very strong cards in the packs, but not sure how many 9s will be garnered. Most every one of them has some minor (and I mean very minor) edge dinging that will knock them down.

So I'll send in a small mix of the cards, to get graded...hopefully enough 9s to pay back for the packs (but I'm not holding my breath)...these black borders are murder.
