Surprisingly poor start

I was surprised to see Adrián Béltre's numbers after last year's great season. Of course, it's still early.

  • I think last year was a fluke and a career year for Beltre.

As much as I wanted him to do well, I was surprised to see Seattle go out and get both Sexson and Beltre. Beltre had one great year, and then Seattle brings him in to a pitchers park.

As you said it's still early, but I'd like to see him get that average up around .285. Having 2 HRs so far is depressing, where Sexson has 8 bombs so far. Both guys are batting under .240 which is depressing, but I suspect they will both end up in the .270-.290 range.

I would have preferred Seattle get Sexson and bring in a pitcher instead of 2 bombers. Seattle's rotation was very bad last year, and didn't get much improvement this year. When your 'ace' is 42 years old, you have problems.
