When did he say he wanted something for nothing? He asked for help assembling a massive set with deals on cards.
Just curious how that's wanting 'something for nothing'?

FYI I bid on every 72 Topps PSA 9 that comes up for auction on ebay. Most of the time I will max out my bidding at $15.00. Most of the time I do not win the auction. ...but I have picked up 57 PSA 9s (50 of which) were under $15.00
So that would be myt definition of a cheap PSA 9.

You are probably right! I am certain the 110 or so cards I have registered worth over $1000 each were no doubt just given to me!
Can we see your registered sets? mind posting a link for them?

Usually, guys that are really into a particular semi-vintage set like this have duplicats or can sell a group of the commons(CHEAPIES),at one time to someone who pays them for putting the time into that. This set is somewhat popular. I know that by the prices I paid for a few of the really high grade low pop cards I have. Frankly, I just don't have it in me to pour tons of time into looking for cards I want right now for this set. I am working on other sets more significant to me and thought if someone had extras or commons they were willing to part with I could get some.
no taking advantage of anyone intended. I am certain most of you know more about this set than I do. I just know it's big and takes a lot of time to work on.
By the way, I'm 1/407th of the way done with my 1952 Topps set, so if anyone uh ....

Dudes, the best thing you can do with murcurynut's posts is just ignore them. He's a disgruntled coinhead who comes over the sports boards when he feels like trolling. I've never once seen him offer anything positive or helpful over here.
<< <i>looks like I got spanked down to number 45 over the weekend and it's not even over yet! I must go find 60 of these or so just to keep in a pistol shot range of the top ten!

You may be confusing the current set list with the All-time set list.

I wish I could do that 1967 PSA 9!

Definitely the way to start building your set. Patience, patience, patience... Too many guys start out trying to win every card and as you'll find with the 72 set - you can run out of money with half the set to go if you're not careful. Look forward to seeing you move up the ranks!!!

I couldn't agree more. When I first started my 71 set I was actively bidding on many, many auctions, getting caught up in the race to get done. Only after I realized it's a turtle's pace that wins these races, and not the hare's. Unless you have unlimited funds, you'll burn out quickly and not ever want to finish.
<< <i>yep, it's a journey not a destination. slow and steady is the way to go. fwiw, i have a lot of 75 or so 72's in psa 8 that are dupes and would sell at fair price.....jim >>

Jim,...........Thanks.
Duh ......on my part, for only now putting your member name with your set registry name with your ebay name.
I suppose many of the graded cards bought and sold on ebay are bought and sold by set registry members.
