Yeah, when I first heard of it, I thought for sure it had to be false. I mean, the guy's name would appear as "Ellis, D." in many alphabetical listings, fer cryin' out loud. Seemed to good to be true. But apparently it's no urban legend.

God I love that story, even if it's not true - can you imagine pitching a complete game no-hitter in the major leagues while peaking on 4 hits of blue cheer? Jesus. Just think about it...


...yeah, you're right, the cheer was dried up by the early '70's - what would it have been? Window pane?
