Set Registry changes..

sounds good..

<< <i>Dear PSA Set Registry Member,

We have added a couple of enhancements to the Registry which should save us all some time. The first pertains to invalid specs. As you know, cards that have been graded for the first time, or cards in HOF sets for example, may not have a spec number associated with it in the Registry. The spec number is PSA's internal numbering system and is what the system uses to verify cards within sets.

Previously, when you received an error message you had to email the Set Registry customer service with the certification number and the name of the set. We would have to then look up the spec number for the card and insert it into the set. This was time consuming for all of us. Now, when you enter a card that is missing a spec number, an automatic email is sent to the Set Registry customer service with all the information we need. We then will update the set within one business day and you will then be able to add your card. Effectively immediately, you no longer need to email us.

Since we put this new feature in place earlier this week, we have noticed that a large number of members attempt to add cards that are not part of the set. This not only includes player sets, but also includes company sets. For the most part, we believe these are typing errors, so we do ask that you carefully type in your certification numbers. However, if you attempt to again add a card after the 24 hour wait period and it still does not go into the set, then the card may be incorrectly listed in the PSA database. In that case, you should contact mailto:setregistry@collectors.com for help.

Also, another note about spec numbers. It has come to our attention that many of you attempt to add new cards to your sets immediately after your grades have been posted online. There is a lag time between the posting online and the time the PSA database is updated with your certification numbers. If you attempt to add cards before your certification numbers have been updated in the database, you will get an error message. Therefore, please allow 24 hours after your grades are posted before attempting to add new cards to your sets. Following this simple time frame will save you and the Set Registry customer service team a great deal of time.

The second enhancement has to do with player set card additions. There is now a form online that will allow you to send us a list of cards you would like added to basic and/or master sets. All it requires is the cert# of the card and your email address. The form is located on the Set Requests page. If you are active in the players sets, you should bookmark this page:

http://www.psacard.com/set_registry/player_additions.chtml

This form saves you time because all you need do is type in your cert# and email address. It saves us time because we will be able to quickly add the cards to the sets directly from the form.

Please note that effectively immediately we will only accept card requests to the player sets that are submitted through this form. Email requests will no longer be accepted. Also, your email address is required on the form in case we have any questions. We are still running weeks behind on requests for new cards to player sets, but hopefully, we will soon be able to decrease the wait time.

We really appreciate your participation in the PSA Set Registry! Thank you for your patience and cooperation. As always, should you have any comments, please feel free to email me.

Sincerely,

BJ Searls

I have been under the impression that a card may only be registered to a single set. This seems to say that the same card can be registered to both a master set and a basic set. Is that correct? Can a single card be registered to both a player set and a company set?

A single card can be added to as many sets as is appropriate (basic player, master player, HOF set, annual set, team set, etc.)
