  • It stank more than the Yankees do right now. You step in and you can smell the greed and the scheming. If you want to stop collecting, go to the Expo, it will turn you off cards. AJcards has a table right by the door buying only trying to take advantage of collectors who are either desperate for cash or don't know what they have. You don't want to see what I saw. Then there was Len Pottie saying how great KSA was to a couple of collectors. I wanted to scream out so badly to tell them that KSA is garbage and over grades and grades trimmed cards, but I'm sure Len Pottie would have probably tried to have me thrown out for it. I was honestly expecting to see a virgin fest there, but there actually were a few women at the Expo, and a tasty morsel with a wrestling mask promoting the WWF. I was going to go two of the three days, but got turned off so much I left after the first day. If you want PSA graded hockey, the expo is NOT the place to go. I saw maybe 1% of the pre 1990 cards graded. The weirdest part had to be the booth where there was a guy selling sausage. People were buying it too. That was a surprise. You don't expect to find sausage at a sportscard show. If you stay there for more than an hour, you start getting dizzy.

I went last year...someone was selling leather belts.

Then someone else was selling used children's books.

I found those rather odd...though not as odd as the sausage guy. He was there last year too. Guess ya gotta eat???

All kidding aside, its only a 4 hr ride there and I've found a few cards here and there. Just wish there was more graded. I'll probably still go to the November show.

Why would Len Potti say that.. He's 'PSA Canada'.

I was actually set up at the show and for sales it was a good show. Friday was incredible and Saturday was good. Sunday was dead and we packed up a little early to get a jump on the 9 hour ride back to Boston.

Buying I picked up a ton of stuff from Harvey at AJ's and Gerry and Jason from Gerry's Sportscards. It was a pleasure meeting these guys in person after buying from them online and on the bay. They are top notch guys and I look forward to seeing them again in November.

Aside from them I didn't see much graded. There was a ton of raw hockey but I stayed away. I almost bought a 69 OPC set with some real nice 1st series cards but the stars were all ungradeable and the seller wanted too much for it.

KSA was set up right across from me and they seemed pretty slow all show.

    Picked up at the expo:
    62 Parkies
    63 Topps

    63 York WB's (50%) 8.52
    68 Topps (39%) 8.54
    69 Topps (3%) 9.00

    71 Topps (100%) 9.21 #1 A.T.F.
    72 Topps (100%) 9.39

    74 OPC WHA (95%) 8.57

Were there any raw '79 OPC hockey that looked gradable?
