Anyone collect...

...those masonic penny tokens? Some of the designs remind me of conder tokens.

I collect Masonic "pennies" from the Napoleonic era. I'm not an expert on the subject but I think today's pennies are descended the early tokens and jetons issued by the various lodges. Just got a new one from 1805 but no time to take pics right now! image

I sold a neat one to Russ a while back.

I don't collect them, but I've gotten a few, usually in bulk lots. My knowledge about them is sketchy at best. I wonder if there's a reference on them?

I collect those that have a Canadian connection. Got about a dozen so far.

Here's a pic of the newp that got me wondering about the mason tokens...this one has a pretty neat design and reminds me of a conder token.

Do these have the masonic symbols on them? I think the protractor, pyramid and something else...

Here's the other side of the above token. I've seen many different mason coins with this same keystone symbol on them.

I wonder what those little letters and numbers on the side of the ark mean...maybe it's the model number, like on a car.image

OK - I had some time to look up your example. My reference is "Masonic Chapter Pennies" by E. A. King, 1930; 2nd printing 1981 by Quarterman Publications.

Wausau, Wisconsin Chapter No. 51 - Catalog # 7071 in copper and 7072 in bronze
My reference doesn't decode the the letters H.T.W.S.S.T.K.S. nor the AL SF 3000

I suppose a google search would help in the decoding.

BTW: The Keystone side is considered the reverse

The 3000 probably refers to 1000 BCE (Before Common Era). A Masonic token that dates from 1805 is dated 5805. So you subtract 4000....

    I think....
