Yankees tied for last place

"The Yankees are tied for last place after April for the first time since June 1995...."

In 1995 the Yankees won the Wild Card. Hope springs eternal.

  • Frankly, I think that a team in their position needs to rebuild. But George would never hear of it. He's got too much arrogance and too little patience to do it.

Yankees players simply have no real interest in winning the games. My observation during that Boston series last year - I don't think I've ever witnessed a more uncaring, unfeeling, "couldn't care less" attitude among a group of players playing for a championship. Losing that series to them meant nothing. Steinbrenner used to have success because he mixed in hungry guys with veteran stars. Now it's too many veteran stars with no chemistry whatsoever, who are just going through the motions each game.

You are right about too many veteran stars. I did not want that many. Sheffield was a good acquisition though. Him and Jeter always contribute. The other guys are not hitting consistently. The pitching staff is a tee ball apparatus.

I am not sure if one could say some of the Yankee veteran don't care. I mean, Jeter really wants to do well. So does Tino Martinez. Kevin Brown is a perfectionist. He wants to look good out there. Rivera is a good guy. Sheffield is the best contributer so far. Williams is a nice quiet player and perfect for club house chemistry. A-Rod is too much of a diplomat to not care about winning games.

The pitchers have been inconsistent. I think that's the major reason. How is Mel doing anyway. Is he all right and in good health? He needs to convert Brown into a more finesse type pitcher.

Rebuild, lmao with what. Their minor league cupboard is bare. They can't unload those salaries on anyone else so just how do you suggest they rebuild? George's ego won't let him rebuild through the draft and minor league trades. It will be fun to watch who else ends up on the DL list as the year goes bye. It is only the first week of May but they better hold their breath for that broken down pitching staff.
  • Im happy, I keep getting 3-2 odds when I bet against the Yankees. Did real well with Tampa Bay, another dog team. Same tonight I'm getting 3-2 picking Oakland. Those Yankee fans have more money than brains.

I think Ill just bet against the Yanks all year, should pay well.

Is it too early to paint Jeter and Arod's name on the woodshed mailbox??

    I think not.

Not their fault the yankees suck. How about you put up their starting pitching staff on that mailbox? They're the ones solely responsible for the teams abysmal record.

CONVERT Kevin Brown to a pitching coach at the minor league level. He is not stable enough for little league.

how many hits does 45 million get you against the worst team in the AL East???

I think more than one! Check out the Yankee losses, they scored 1 or 2 runs in many of those games. No one was yelling
about Yankee pitching when they were winning last year 8-7 or 12-11. If the Yanks get one or two more runs in half of those
games were aren't even here talking about this.

When you are paying guys 10+ mil a year they should step up and win those games. It means nothing when Arod is hitting the
snot out of the ball when they are winning by 10 runs...win when you have to...steal some bases, move a runner along, slide into
first, when you think about the teams in the past who have won it all, those teams did that!

Over paid hitter are the Yankees biggest problem! Its time to bring out paint cans!

Man you're just wrong on this one.

Arod is batting .300 with 10 HRs and 28 RBIs and .954 OPS.
Jeter is batting .315 with .863 OPS.
Sheff is batting .339 with .923 OPS.

Their highest paid batters are NOT the problem, it's the pitching.

    Team ERA is over 5.

Ditto on the pitching. In addition, The Yanks just seem stale. Maybe it will fall in place, but they don't seem to have the energy and excitement level of "underdog" teams such as the Orioles.

Look at the Yankees RS and RA. It's easy to see where their problem lies:
