Bought my first game worn jersey today!

Nothing impressive and nobody you've heard of!
A couple of years ago i was opening packs of 2000 UD hockey and came across a guy with the last name "Kristek". Same as mine, I later went on and wrote him a letter and included some cards and sent it to his minor league the Rochester Americans. Grandparents told me we have connections in the Czech Republic and a month later Jaroslav sent me a letter back. He was suprised to learn that other Kristek's live in the States and that i played hockey as well and was really happy that i sent him a few cards.

He was the 1998 second round DP for Buffalo and has only played 6 games with the Sabres posting 4 penalty minutes. This guy looks almost identical to my little brother.
Anyways, last week i was doing a google search and came across a dealer of game worn hockey jerseys and i bought this one for a reasonable price today. I really dig the alternate jersey and hope to buy his home jersey in the near future.
Just a little bored today and thought i'd post my experience.

    Congratulations Ben!
Very nice looking item. A lot of the teams are selling their jerseys at the stadium - wish I lived near one!
I like having some "representative" uni's just to look at - of course I'm talking baseball.

thanx for sharing and good luck in the future if this is a new horizon for you

  • Very nice. Congratulations! Any repairs, stick, or puck marks? I like my game worns to show a little wear. Perhaps some blood!

My guess is he paid $250 for a size 54.image Cool story and congrats on the find.

  • Akbar,
    Good call.

Set me back $250. The cheapest out of all the jerseys he had for sale i think. I imagine he doesn't have a lot of jerseys out there when you've only played six games. Most of the others range around $500.
I hope to buy the home jersey of his he had for sale in the next month or so.

  • NJmeathook,
Not for sure how much wear it will have. Surely a couple puck marks, but it kinda looks brand new, never been touched. Maybe i could try to match the DNA to see if were really related, who knows.

From my experience from jerseys and bats - when they say "light" game use, expect very little activity on the item.
Let us know what you see when you get it.

Ben....Where did you get it from? Normal, Authentic (non g/w) jerseys go for upwards of $250. to get a gamer for the same price is great!

My guess is that he got it from Captain's Jerseys in Newhall, Californiaimage I think Robert West is the contact guy and you can email him at:

  • N162,
I've tried to explain what you said to my friends and girlfriend. They still think i'm crazy for spending that much. The most i've ever spent on a jersey was probably $130 or so for my Tkachuk and Pronger replicas.
Akbar has all the info below.
Bob is a really good guy to work with. Responds to emails quickly and is very quick to ship.
Let you know what kinda wear it has when it arrives.

For a legit GU jersey in baseball, that is complete - all tags/patches, and evidence of use - I expect to pay that much except for someone who barely played in the majors.

    IMO, ya did good!
    congratulations

  • Received it today. Very happy and not a speck of usage on it. Came with a COA from the MeiGray Group and has the fight tag on the back. A little heavier than my other jerseys!
