PCGS POPs and Excel Spreadsheets...HELP!!!

I am trying to find a way to pull LIVE Data from the PCGS Online POP Reports and place that data into cells in an Excel spreadsheet...

I realize you can Cut and Paste, but I need a way to do it LIVE, and keep it updated.

Can this be done?
Can it be automatically updated, or even updated on command?
If this is possible, are there any legal concerns I need to know about?

If you want to see what I am trying to do, send me your email address and I will send you a copy of the manual for my spreadsheet.

Thanks in advance!!!

I believe you need Excel XP or 2003 for this to work:

    open excel spreadsheet,

Data-->Import External Data-->New Web Query-->enter the URL in the address box-->select the table of data you want by clicking the yellow arrow(s) that appear(s)

the arrows become green check marks, go to "Options" in the same window-->click the "Full HTML formatting" radio button and click OK-->click "Import" and follow directions

to update the data, you will see a red exclamation point button in the toolbar; use that when you want to update.

That will not work. I tried and the content of the page is protected. If you try to right mouse click on the page and select export to excel, it comes back with a different page. Highlight copy and paste into sheet is the only way it will work.

Of course there are ways to do it. Excel a full web browser (shares with IE). Might not be the easiest thing, but that depends on how the page is set up that you want to download.

    PM me for details

It is a little sad that Ernie had to post to this thread before he got any answer....now everyone with a question will post here. image

I know, why doesn't Ernie trade some coins for sonofa gunk's knowledge! image

This would make this thread on topic!

I think helping Ernie on what ever board he posted on was the right thing to do. Lets not get petty with helping people who ask for it. Good luck finding the answer Ernie, and if you do, I'd be interested in the results......Just y Own Opinion.

ah, I was worried about that...in that case, you're right...web query will not work with a content protected page image

Well…I just woke up form a 5 hour nap, after working for 28 hours straight, and I am still very tired, but I just had to reply while I am still ‘fresh’… image

I would like to apologize to our resident “Forum Nazis” for any offense I may have perpetrated against you. image

    It was not my intent.

I will not try to defend my actions; however, in an effort to explain them, I offer the following:

I have been working on a spreadsheet for tracking registry sets, for quite some time now, and have accomplished every goal I had set for myself, as well as a few that some of you have suggested I tackle, with the single exception of the subject of this thread. So, I decided to seek some advice from my peers.
As everyone knows, a ‘multiple listing’ will reach a larger market and attract more interest. I figured that by posting to the ‘Big Three’ coin forums, that I would have a better chance of getting the advice I need, as some of you only browse one or two of them at a time.
I did post to all three; however, I linked two of them (including this one) back to my original thread on the Registry Set forum... thinking that any replies would be posted there. I could not have known that the majority of the posts would be from the BST board, but as mas3387 pointed out, this is where most of my help came from, and I will take what I can get.

As for the rest of you, Thank You!!! imageimage
Your advise, comments, and encouragement, were very much appreciated.

Please use the previous link, back to the main Registry Set thread, for any further posts, and to read my remaining comments.

    I don’t want to start another war. imageimage;
