The Leland's auction wasn't very well publicized and with Mastro/Mile High/REA going on around now (past month so), didn't help the final prices and a bunch of those lots.
Wow.. shows you how much I follow basketball cards.. I would like a Jordan RC for my collection. I always thought a psa 7 or 8 would break me though. Thanks.
and well-centered psa 9's routinely sell for around $1,000 (and for a couple of hundred more max, you can find a 9 as part of a nice, complete raw set, as I recently did. not cheap, but a lot less than a couple of years ago.
I think a couple of forces are at work here...one, these cards aren't really as rare as when jordan's were going for 20 grand, second, there just isn't as much demand as there once was.
I was lucky and able to sell one for $600 a while ago...I think in the low $500's is the going price for an 8 nowadays. I think in a few years, though, when more and more collectors realize the number HoFers in this set, it will pick up again.
I paid alittle over 25 bucks to get my PSA 8 Jordan I picked up in 88 or 89 graded . I really dont know how it stayed in such good shape since I got it as a gift when I was 10 or 11 and it was never even in a top loader..just sat in a box till I started collecting again about 8 months ago.
Orion Nice grade on the Jordan rc,I remember I had one when I was about 12 and I was putting it into a screw down holder and somehow it dropped from my hands and my friend stepped on it. Now many years latter I finally got another one.
One thing about Jordan RCs - for sellers - "strike while the iron is hot" - I remember back around 1993, Greg Manning Auctions sent me a sell list - one of the cards was a Jordan RC PSA 10 for 1700$ I thougt that was a lot of money!
But when I saw the card going in the high 20K range and "buys" for the card around 20 grand - I thought wow! Wish I had bought a few!

you pulled an 8 on a card that sat in a box for years? A Jordan rookie? Good job!
