My turn to get scammed, I think

Some of you may recall that I recently ripped a 78 OPC box - and it was a good one. Last week the same guy (or, at least I thought it was due to him using the same email acct), emailed me that he did find 1 more 78 and 1 79 OPC box. We agreed on $300 for both, but he asked for a MOrder. I paid him last time with PayPal. Silly me, didnt ask him why he would not take Pay pal, but same email address, I figured I was safe.

So, I mail him a domestic MOrder and he emails me a few days later telling me that he can't cash the domestic MOrder in Canada, so he is sending it back to me to convert to a Int'l MOrder. Annoying, yes, but my fault and not that big of a deal.

A week has gone by and no sign of the Morder. So, today I email me, and viola - the email account is not recognized. I have an address that it was sent to, but no phone number.

Maybe this will work out, but I am losing hope.

Ughhhh.

If he did scam you he probably wouldn't have bothered telling you anything about the money order period.. Would have just ignored you. Regular mail to the US can take up to 15 business days. He may just be having problems with his ISP.. go to superpages.ca and search for him using the people finder.. give him a call if you find him.

If you did an eBay transaction with him on the first deal, you can get his contact info from eBay. That doesn't guarantee that the info he listed with eBay is legit. The only thing eBay verifies is e-mail address.
  • Lee,

How do I get his PayPal address? My past transaction with him only lists his email name.....BTW, his acct does have a bunch of other auctions going right now, so hopefully i jumped to conclusions.

I have had sellers in Canada specifically tell me they can not cash "green" colored domestic money orders. Lucky for me they told me before i sent the other. So that much is true.

And if it's only been 7 days, that's not a lot of time from Canada in my experience.

I wouldn't give up hope yet.

If this doesn't work out, perhaps you can do a credit card chargeback through paypal on your original purchase. Technically, you did receive that item, but if you consider this to be all one large purchase...
  • I learned my lesson on expecting the worst in people. In my mail was the US Money Order from the guy I am buying 78 and 79 OPC boxes from......Whew. An honest guy - with a note to just send me PayPal this time.

    Good.

Enjoy your box now. And now we all know for sure....No more domestic money orders to Canada.
