Cost per win statistics?

Has anyone ever ran statistics determining the cost per win for each team? What I mean, for example, is if a team wins 100 games and has a payroll of $100 million - that's a cost of $1 million per win. Such calculations would be fair in gauging success because a great number of wins could partially compensate for a gaudy payroll. It would also reveal whether small market/payroll teams are relatively successful.

I was just thinking about that this morning...specifically in what it's going to cost the Yankees this year per win (it has to be the most ever if they stay on the course they are on now).

I bet the A's of the past few years are at or near the top of this type of list.
