Remember these Chuck Norris Facts
1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris
-Bill Gates,1981
"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another,& with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks,"Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"" Jay Leno 2006

<< <i>Hey, who doesn't like Joe Torre? Great guy. But he's gonna be the first to go if the Yankees keep playing like this. >>
Doubt it, since he is in his first year of a huge contract (Believe it is $19 million). Not pocket change, even to The Boss.
My vote would have to be Mel. He was rumored to be pissed off last year and in the offseason, so he and George may part ways now - especially if the pitching continues to struggle (not Mel's fault at all).

And I don't think it would be Mattingly. He is just too popular in NY. The Fans would want George's head if Mattingly was fired. Bad PR.
Brian Cashman would be fired in the offseason as most GMs are.
Kevin Brown....Ha!!! Who the hell wants the salary of that loser. (But, the Yankees could pay for him to play on another team)
Giambi (See Kevin Brown)
Rivera - Has problems, but still better than most closers. Who do the Yankees go to if he is gone?

<< <i>I dont like Torre at all he never did anything else ,anywhere except get fired . He walked into the Yankee Organization and managed a already good team , in other words he stepped in dog poo and came out smelling like a rose. The Yankees are not responding to him anymore and havent been for some time ,its time to dump him and bring in some new blood , that will get the blood pumping of this entire awesome (on paper )Yankee team. >>
In Torre's defense, if you ask him what the difference between his time with the Yankees and the other teams is , he always says that the Yankees teams have a lot more talent. He rarely takes the credit.

When have you EVER seen Torre step up and take any credit for anything? The Yankees not responding to the manager? Come on now, how much input does a manager REALLY have for a player? You think that any player does better because of their manager?
And he manager an already good team? Uhm, how recent a fan are you? Taking 2 seconds to look up the yankees records prior to Torre coming on board:
1995: 79-65 (.549)
1994: 70-43 (.619)
1993: 88-74 (.543)
1992: 76-86 (.469)
In Torre's first year, they won 92 games, a 13 game improvement. In his tenure as Yankees manager, he's won 898 games, and lost just 585. The yankees aren't responding to Torre? Did you fail to notice they won 101 games last year? And 101 the year before that? And 103 the year before that?
God I hate it when people blame the manager...it just screams ignorance. The players (specifically the horrid pitching staff) are to blame. Blaming the manager for a baseball's team's woes is like blaming the chef when he's given crappy ingredients.
<< <i>Hey, I'm not saying Torre "deserves" to be fired...just predicting what Steinbrenner will do. This isn't some bold prediction on my part - everyone knows Steinbrenner's reputation with firing managers - that big contract with Torre won't have any bearing at all on George pulling the trigger. >>
Steve-
My comment wasn't directed at you...was at joewoowoo who seems disillusioned and outright misinformed that Torre somehow isn't deserving the of the accolades he has received in his tenure as Yanks manager.
