By the time you read this PCGS will have graded 100,000 State Quarters since 1999. The highest number graded year was 2002, followed by 2001, 2000, 1999, 2004, 2003, and 2005. Of course 2005 is not done and the mint sets have not been released yet. 2003 may prove to be the most difficult year to in general and very well could hold the record for the lowest amount of high grade material. This series has been responsible for a renewed interest in our hobby and for bringing thousands of new young collectors into numismatics. I hope many of you are having as much fun with these quarters as I am. To be able to look at tens of thousands of new released coins for little expense and meet the challenge of finding top quality ones to create a collection is an exciting experience. It is my opinion the Wisconsin D extra high and low leafs will eventually be recognized as legitimate varieties within the series and who knows what may be around the corner before the series is completed in 2008. 100,000 coins is quite an accomplishment for a modern series in a relatively short time. I wish all of you good luck with your continued "hunt" for the best.

<< <i>I recently noticed that my 1881-S Morgan is a pop 36,002 coin with 114,387 graded higher, so a total of 100,000 state quarters in six years is not very much. >>
There is tremendous room for growth in all the modern series. There are always
many lower grade coins that will flow in if the demand ever exists. Incredibly 2nd
tier coins are only MS-60 or even VF to a much larger extend than many realize. In-
deed, with some varieties the first tier coins will be VF.
