    Jeff,
I'm confused too. I only saw the one with 65 bids and a winning bid of $8,100. Not interested in these cards either, but what were the pack odds of pulling this card?

What happened on the first sell? Winning bidder back out?

  • Guys I don't know the details why it didn't sell....only that it must not have since it was relisted and it is a #1/1 card. I had been watching the first auction because someone e-mailed the link to me and it seemed interesting because of the timing of the Pope passing on.

The original winner appeared to be a serious buyer so I have a feeling it may be the 2nd high bidder who may have made the winner feel like they were shill bidded up too high.

    Only a guess.....

As far as odds to pull the thing....it has to be higher than one in 500,000 plus packs.

Cool item......but if it is true that Beckett is going to run a story on this card and its sale then they may want to rethink that.

Well, if the buyer backed out - it must have been OK with the seller - I didn't see a neg for the transaction.

  • Mike, I agree.....exactly what you say is why I believe the card may have been shill bid.....or possibly something else weird went on here.

Who would let some off the hook on a $8100 sale and then relist the item at $6999.....think about.....

I see a lot of posts on here about stupid sellers and buyers especially related to Mantles, Jordans, reprints, trimmed, colored, cracked & swapped, etc.....but honestly this specifc auction takes the prize for stupidity.

Because of its timing as well as its appeal and visibilty to the general non-collecting masses this was a very stupid thing for that seller to do.

How will they explain themsleves to Beckett if it is true that an article was written concerning this auction item.....I would not want to be mr. jseau
