1978 Topps Baseball box break...... results

OK, round 2. I just sold off everything from the 2nd box I opened looking for a mint Murray or Molitor/Trammell.
Here's how I did:

Highlights- No Murray or Mollie. Cards were centered nicely for the most part with very sharp corners. Couldn't have asked for a better box in terms of condition. PSA 10- Blyleven x2, Fingers, Braves, 6 commons... PSA 9- Brett x2, Yaz, Winfield, Eck x2, Ryan LL.

Cost of box: -590
Grading fees: -175
Sales: 1120
Cards Kept: 0

Profit/loss: +355

Conclusion: Not bad considering I didn't pull anything major, but the box was in good enough condition to drive the prices up after grading. No compaints with this bad boy, just wish I could get a nice Murray or/and Mollie.

Idferg, Baseball card exchange. You will pay but thus far his wax boxes yield extremely nice cards condition wise. And thats all you can ask for right?

The 9s were hit and miss. The Brett's sold for $55 and $74, the Yaz brought $26, but the Eck's only brought about 8 each, and the Ryan LL $11. The low-pop 9s usually do well, even the commons. In order to do well with a box you need at least 5 PSA 10s with a star or two, or you need a Murray and/or Mollie. I'd recommend the case-fresh boxes from BBCExchange. Cards have been coming out sharp.

I am getting interested in the 78's too. I say we get 16 people together and talk Steve out of that case for $8800 and rip away. I can see it now, every non 78 collector will be sick of all the posts. ONLY NEED 15 MORE!!!!!

BBCE has no more rack cases. I took the last one. Anyway, the wax has been very nice. If we did get 16 people maybe we could save some money from what Steve charges for the case fresh box, and still get the case fresh box image

I'm in too. I love the 1978 set. As a Tiger fan, that year is nirvana for 1984 Tigers RCs.

That 84 tigers team is one of the most underrated of all time. Trammell, Sweet Lou, Jack Morris, Kirk Gibson, even Sparky- just a bunch of workhorses that got the job done. All of those guys should get more HOF attention (well, at least Sparky's in).

Ok, I e-mailed Steve and sent him a link to this thread. I pretty much just said how fun it would be for all of us to rip these boxes and post results in one thread. Kind of like the Heriatge craziness,of course to a lesser extent. Nice exposure for him and loads of fun for us. Lets see what his response will be!

what you would expect from 27 year old wax. The card touching the gum and in alot of cases the next card too. Thing is, condition wise, these boxes are top notch

One of my earliest memories were busting '78s... If you need another person, I'll buy two boxes. I can pay via paypal, send a money order, or check. Whatever works for y'all image
