eBay: winning bidder has not paid yet

I need opinion. I sold something on eBay for about $50. The winning bidder told me he was going to send me a check last Monday but I still have not recieved it. I live in NY and he lives in PA. Is 7 days a resonable time to inquire? Should I send him a personal E-mail reminder or the automated eBay reminder? What is the best action on my part? Thanks.

send him a reminder via personnel email. if you don't hear back in a few days file a non paying bidder status. a week is pretty normal. check his feedback? does he have a good track record? do you offer paypal? that is the quickest option for payment.
