SMR Subscription

Is it worth it to subscribe to SMR or just pick up a copy once every few months or longer (6 months)?

  • If you plan on submitting cards to PSA to get graded, you'll have to get a Collectors Club membership and the SMR subscription is included. Gold is 1 year with 6 free submissions and Platinum is 2 years with 10 free submissions. image

No I am not planning on ever submitting, I was just wondering if the prices are updated enough from month to month to make it worth while, are the articals enough to get a monthly subscription?

I would say that the SMR could be picked up every few months or more and you'd be just fine. I don't notice big jumps either way in the cards I collect or am interested in. It would be interesting to see what actually gets changed from one month to the next and by how much.

  • I can't find it here in Las Vegas. I tried when my subscription ran out last year and none of the bookstores/magazine stands carry it. Modern values are updated more frequently than vintage values. I enjoy the articles and every now and again there is an article written from one of our esteemed board members. If you're buying it mostly for the card values then the updates probably aren't going to be frequent enough. At $6.00/issue at the newsstand ($72.00 if you buy 12), you might as well pay the $49.00 for the year. image

Some good hearted board members would gladly send you an issue here and there.

I agree that the pricing is really not the value from month to month. The articles aren't bad, and the auction ads also. The free submissions is what it's all about.

PM me w/ your e-mail and shipping address. My subscription just ran out but I have a few recent issues around.

  • If your close to any shows PSA goes to, you can get free copies of the current SMR from their booth. Same is true for Mastronet and all the others. The mastronet ones go fast but MAN are they beautiful books.

I would like to thank the person who mailed me a copy of thier April 2005 SMR. I would like to pay you back for your shipping costs though. Please PM me, there was no name on the envelope. But I ended up throwing it out and lost the address.

    Thanks,
