Good stuff soft - keep it coming!

I just got back a PSA 10 Carlton from 78 - if I have time, I'll post a scan later on. The one in the rack does look sweet, but how are the corners? Try and loupe them, even through the wrap, to make sure they didn't get dinged from sliding around in the rack.

Great pulls softparade!!! A question about the Murray rookie... I just pulled one from vending that looks to be in the same condition as the one you've posted. Do they all have that bit of rough cutting on the top edge and several printing dots on them? Could this possibly pull a nine? I'll try to post a scan at some point. Again great pulls... looks like racks are the way to go.

Shannon, my Murray has some fuzz at top, not rough cut. This is common with these cards. Also, the pouch that Murray sits in has some dust on it. The card is cleaner than it looks here. I am hoping for a 9 on this one. Centering is nice!

Where's the 2nd Murray? You were robbed. Carltons look awesome- definite 10 potential. I would have opened as well. Bench looks good except for splotchy name, Murray looks 9ish, Richard and Morgan look like 9s. Can't wait for my box.

    Hi Dan
I'm really enjoying the show! I don't think either of us are surprised about the OC's, tilts, diamonds, roughs etc. Part of the "charm" of the set.

The Murray, from my experience, is about as good as it gets - somewhere in the universe is a perfect 10? But, hopefully this is a 9 - how does the print dots look in person? Print spray is part of the "charm" also.

The Bench cards look great! The name is a little light and may keep it from a 10? Not sure - in the world of 78s - they approach a 10 IMO!

Thanx for the show on this Monday, monday blue kind of day!
    A real treat!

That looks like a lot of fun! Does the centered Murray have a slightly weaker red on the top left corner of the border? The Murray with strong red borders always seem to be OC.

Good luck on the inevitable submission. image

    Soft,
Looks like the poulation of Simmons 10's will be bumping up at least 1 if not 2. Gorgeous Simmons...the one on the left. The one on the right is not too shabby, either!

The case is well worth that kind of money! Think what people are paying for stuff today? In comparison an almost 30 year old case is a steal!

Good luck on your subs and you didn't answer my question on the Murray - how do the print dots look on the borders in person?

I think the card has a shot at 9!

Mike, the card is alot cleaner than the scan shows. There are a few small dots spattered about, but I have seen and HAVE MUCH worse on Mint 9's. A small blue dot by the red border and a couple really small balck dots further down on the border. I am hoping a 9 is at hand!

    Dan

    << <i>Soft,
Looks like the poulation of Simmons 10's will be bumping up at least 1 if not 2. Gorgeous Simmons...the one on the left. The one on the right is not too shabby, either!

    dgf >>

Phil, the Simmons cards are striking. Color and focus is out of control. I pulled plenty of nice commons too for my 78 set.

    Sixto! He the man!

Idferg, I bought a case fresh wax box a few months ago. Condition was unreal. Although the star cards were slim I got 12 PSA 10's out of one wax box. UNREAL. The case this specific box came from is gone now. Steve at BBCE has ripped into another. See CDsNuts thread about his results. He got a box from the new case.

I hated him. The Bucs picked him up and he stunk up the joint. He and Amos Otis were totally worthless free agent pick-ups. Sad part is I'd prefer them over the current sad state of the Pirates franchise. image

Wow...Great Luck on that rack box. Did you buy them out of a sealed case? If i remember right even the rack boxes have a certain order concerning what is in each rack box. I remember years ago opening cases and getting lots of stars in one rack box and the other boxes having different players not in the first box as well of a mix from the first box. These came out of sealed cases...Has anyone else had that happen?

I'd love to get in on a wax case or rack case with you guys. I wouldn't mind taking half of a case actually. Is someone taking the initiative on this or should I?

Questions I have before I dive in though:

    1. How many cards per box (wax and rack)?
    2. For rack packs, are the boxes open? Because it would be a problem where one guy would be able to search through the packs - at least that's one fear.

My email is kenny98z11@yahoo.com if anyone wants to contact me...or if someone else is already taking the initiative, please let me know who I should email. I apologize for not reading through the whole thread carefully.

Sorry, I should have read that you guys split the case. At least it will be a fair distribution....good luck to all...

CDSNUTS got over a dozen 10's from one box. My sub just got to PSA from my box. Plus I still have one unopened rack box image

Actually it was only ten PSA 10s, but many sold for double what they should have ($100+ each for Doug Rau, Greg Luzinski, Bill Russell) and the Fisk and Dent helped me even more. From the experiences of both me and soft, I'd say case-fresh wax has been best, but only marginally better than case fresh rack. However, if it's not case fresh, I'd take rack over wax as the cards are better protected in my opinion. And soft, just bust the other box and be done with it. You can do it!

Nice cards, but I think at 59 cents a pack you overpaid.

    Great post guys.

Keep adding cards to the POP report so we can finish this monster set.

87 more cards to go with 53 at PSA.

    Good luck and keep posting!
