Upon looking at this again, it could be argued that the coin should not have been certified since no date could be established. The feeling may have been at the time that we could certify such a low grade coin as to type knowing that no harm could come due to the fact that there are no ultra rarities in the set (especially in low grade).
However, I think you won't see this in the future and you may actually have quite a collectors item.
Craig, I know the above post looks a bit of a mess, but it's a PM from R. Montgomery, to me, regarding this Ike. NGC has not, and will not, in the future, be grading 'no date' worn coins (unless, of course, it's a type that is identified without the assistance of the date).

Edited to add: Duh! I was reading the PO-01 as PRoof-01
<< <i>Pat, that is very cool - I wonder how they could tell it is a proof! Any idea? Ken >>
In any case, I know a cool coin when I see one!

I especially like the spot where the eye would be!

Too bad somebody didn't drill a hole there, abd hit it with a hammer a few times !!
<< <i>Is this a $10,000 coin? >>
Only if you have ten thousand of them.
(I will pay $500.00 for any Ike holdered by PCGS as PO01. That bounty stands for as long as it takes to get me one!)
If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!
