Wonderful image Vern...Is this one of those large Kopek coins that would put a hole in your pocket if you were to carry one? I've seen some huge ones...

Verdigris I think. Certainly not PVC that developed since I've owned it... image But it could have started before I guess. I've had this for several years, just had awful pics of it on my site. I found it today while I had the safe open and decided to take advantage of the light.

Yeah, it's pretty heavy, just a little under 52 grams. So not quite 2 oz. Here's a pic of the edge:

In honesty, I don't mind a little verdigris on coins and medals...it adds some authenticity to them.

During my last visit to Russia I visited a funky antique dealer on Vasilyevskiy Ostrov in St.Petersburg who had a whole cabinet full of these, unfortunately nothing much else. I didn't pick any of them up because I quite honestly didn't know what I'd do with them.

You could have had a giveaway! With that or that cool horsie from the Bayernwerks (?sp). I need a Kopek for my OFEC collection image.
