04 Proof Platinum Mintages? Does Anyone Know?

I would like to know the last/final Mintages for 04 platinum Proof issues. Coinworld has an article on the way but that is a week or more down the road. I don`t subscribe to the internet access of Coinworld so I am not able to read what is available there. Can someone help in this matter? Send a PM to me and put it in this thread for others. Help will be appreciated, Chas.

  • Charles these are the final numbers. Jackie Robinson is now the second rarest modern and given that 30 days worth of returns are still to be processed and deducted from these figures its not clear that Jackie will even hold onto second rarest moden before it all said and done.

A recent Ebay ad stated the final mintage for the 2004 proof platinum $50 coin is 5,095. Any idea if that's true? Not that it's that far off from 5,136, but still... I'm sittin' on one of 'em. image

Congratulations! Looks like you have one example of the rarest modern issue coin out there. I guess the 95W silver Eagle probably holds the money title but you have the lowest mintage coin. image

I would think the 5,095 figure is probably correct, but I have no idea.

Whatcha think of the design? Daaang, I love it... 2004 is the year I started trying to collect them. I have a hard time keeping up with the current ones, much less doing backdates.

I bought the 2004 $50 platinum last year from the mint because I like the design and because of the low mintage.
  • See the updated 04 final figure for proof plats above 4886 is a nice number.

  • Does anyone have any idea where all the 2004 PR Platinum $50. and $100. Eagles are at? I have seen a handful at most on Ebay and have not seen them anywhere else.

I got 2 - 1 oz Proofs ( 2004 ). Could kick myself for not getting any 1/2 ouncers. But who knew?

I prefer the one ounce size but I like the low mintage figure for the smaller 1/2 ounce.

    Was this worth $5,600.00 ?
  • I did see the auction. I was an underbidder. This same seller just sold another 2004 set recently. I emailed him today aksing if he had any more. This was his last set.

I'd say they're all in hands like mine-- individuals who bought one so they could build a set or start a set. I can't see too many people sitting on a roll of platinum anythings from any year..

If Martha Stewart were into Coins.....

It would take insider information to forsee a low mintage.
