Pinnacle sells but another high-end complete set...

Paul Taylor Collection of Proof Shield Nickels.
Add that to the (recent) Minnesota Collection of $3's, Roman Commems, Puff's Wheat Collection of Walkers, a high-end Frankie set, and others that I cannot think of. It bucks the trend of high-end or high-profile sets going to auction.

Way to kill a potentially good thread Robert!

IMO, if you are going to put together a shield nick set, it is best to do it in something other than white. The 1880 looks really nice however and would be my pick of the litter.

All the other sets that Pinnacle has sold are quite spectacular however. Especially Puffs walkers. I still have a coin from that collection.

I almost put (oxymoron) in parens after "high-end Frankies", but I did not want to offend the Franophiles. (Did not seem to concern you, eh, Mark?
Rumor is that they've been also trying to get their hands on this set.
I have heard no such rumor.

Sure you have. I just said it.

Can't. Somebody else already has right of first refusal. You'll have to stand in line.

Top notch folks to deal with all the way.

Even more so now, since they recently sold some Kennedy Halves.

I have seen a few nicely toned proof shields which had sort of an icey blue toning, but to find every year in that pretty toning would most likely be impossible.
<< <i>Since Proof Shield nickels do not as a rule, exhibit colorfull toning, this is an imprssive set. Nineteen of the twenty coins in the set are either cameo or deep cameo. >>
I've seen many with pretty pastel toning... not monster rainbow color, but pretty... just takes a lot of looking.

I can think of two obvious advantages of selling a complete registry set to a dealer as opposed to auctioning. No waiting two months for the money and more importantly, no 15% commission. Almost forgot,
BUYBACKS. A lot of times some of the coins in a set do not meet reserve.
