1896-o Barber half in PCGS AU-53

Was anybody on the boards, lucky enough, to snag the 1896-o Barber half, that was recently offered by Alpine Numismatics? They had, (what appears from their image), a very nice 1896-o, Barber half, graded AU-53 by PCGS, in an old green holder. Their price, $795.00, (as usually is the case), was way under, the true market price, for this key date Barber half. An image of the coin is still available on their website.

<< <i>Ok Tyler, just set them up on Ebay and we'll make sure you double your money on them. >>
Casey,
Be my guest, I think I'll start concentrating on my Barber quarter set, or maybe even begin a set of Barber dimes. The Barber halves are getting out of hand, too much hoarding going on. It seems like every decent key or semi key, in the Barber half series, that comes up for sale, is gone in the blink of an eye. Most of the keys and semi keys are being bought, strickly for resale and/or speculation, and sold at a later date for huge premiums. If you see the people (collectors?), who are buying these coins, they already own multiples of these keys and semi keys. God forbid, a decent key or semi key becomes available, and another Barber collector, (who legitimately needs the coin for their set), snags the coin before them.

As far as buying duplicates, I think that Tyler has been right on track. He's got a great eye for Barbers and seems to do pretty well on Ebay selling off his duplicates. ( Tyler: I hope you're stashing the profits away for the three college tuitions you'll have to pay for in the not too distant future ! )

Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !
New Barber Purchases
See the set Registry set for Arizona Sun. I even tried to pick up the coin but was about the 12th caller. This coin would sell for $1500 or more on eBay.

Thanks for the info, Dr. Pete.
You would think that by now, with the response that Alpine receives on their key and semi key date Barber halves, that they would raise their asking prices on these coins. A while back, they let a 1904-s Barber half, PCGS, AU-58, go real cheap, and now the 1896-o. They seem to be the only dealer out there, where an occasional bargain can be found, (specifically with the Barber series).
