Bob Ford, The Tucson collector who discovered the Wisconsin "Exta leaf" varieties just got this coin off of ebay:

The coin is obviously not the coin in the ebay sale. Anyone else find sellers like this?

Now that is bad!! Clearly a scammer. It might not do any good to return it as the seller is clearly out for fraud.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

Bob Ford got a refund from this seller, thanks in part to the exposure on this board:

    He said:
I assure you I am not a scammer and feel very hurt by the postings at http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=390870

I did not get this far on ebay by being a scammer. Please understand Honest mistakes happen to honest people. Oh heck, even though I have not received the coin back yet, I am going now to issue refund via paypal so you can give me ebay feedback, and possibly update that web link.

Thankyou and once again I apologize.

Well at least there are no more 'added' leaf auctions up any longer either image

Well, if the seller is "honest" then HE got scammed. That was clearly tooled in there (and crudely so). image

Well, the seller is giving a refund, but no explanation. He's sold eight coins identified as upleaf errors. This one happened to be sold to someone who knew what they look like and somehow it turned out to be a fake. I would wonder what the other seven buyers got. And he says he has 38 of them to sell. Some were auctioned as being from a mint bag.

No explanation as to how the coin pictured in the auction wasn't the one that got delivered. I guess it's possible that Bob got the only bogus one, but what a coincidence that would be.

I'm not buying it. If the seller truly got scammed by someone else, it would be a lot easier to believe had the photo in the auction shown the actual coin being delivered.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Agreed. "if" the seller is honest should be a big IF image

Well, the seller does not have any of the 38 others listed. It will be interesting to see if they show up now.
