More Morgan Opinions

These will be my last two images from the collection a 1884-O have 8 just like it and a 1900-O a lot of the coins are in similar shape, so the comments really help me learn grading them a bit more on my own., between the comments on the 1984-s and what comments Ireceive from these, I should be ready to decide.

Also, the 1884-s is it worth trying to sell it raw on ebay or here, neither my Uncle or I care to keep many of these morgans, I have the few that I want.

Since I can see breastplate feathers onthe eagle and the coins have good detail in the hair, and the cheeks and descriptions look clean and sharp I estimated an AU-58 to MS61 (as I think the field marks face marks drop it down

Thanks again,

Skerke

I think you're being a little tough on them. Barring any problems such as cleaning, they both appear to be at least MS63.

Aha, the posted images in the message, next I'll work on sizes.

When people say cleaning what's the best way to tell? Scratches, splotches? I'll probably send these in if the consenus is ms62 or higher some look a little better than others. Ideally my aim is to sell these for him.

I'm taking a visit to Harklen Berk in Chicago tomorrow - I'll bring em along and see what they think and what they would offer. Asides I was eyeing a athenian coin they had....

Sometimes New Orleans mint coins are softly struck, what you think is wear may be just a soft strike. I think eBay or here are perfect places to sell your coins. And I would not get them certified firstimage

  • Thanks, I figured try selling them raw first - then pick the nice ones for certifying, put the rest in a book and wait another couple generations!
