Hard To Buy Judging By Pictures On Ebay

Thanks to all the info I've learned on this board, I'm looking at each auction with a skeptical eye now, whereas before I would buy willy-nilly. I'm looking at these pictures, and I'm just not willing to spend my money unless I can determine from the picture if a coin hasn't been messed with. If I can't tell, I move on. Also, I'm sending a coin back because the picture looked great, but I got the coin and it had hairlines all over it, which didn't show up on the picture! Fortunately the seller is a stand-up guy and will refund my money.
Thanks Board!!

If he were really a standup guy, he would have mentioned the hairlines in the auction description.

Agreed, sometimes what they're 'not' saying can be worse than there pictures.
Something i've learned from Russ and others is to always ask for better pictures on something you're in doubt about.
"No pictures, NO bids" (Russ ©)
one person said they didn't get it (silly me, I did not insure because ANACS said die cast copy)
another just got their coins back and I did not get refund
I agree - it is harder to buy from pictures - but after practice, you can get some good deals because of the sellers bad pictures
Well, good point (of couse). I think I'm going to start asking for better pics if there is something I'm interested in and the pics posted don't do it for me.
