history on bond bread issue ?

does anyone have any info on the bond breads from 1947 ? I bought these about 2 months ago and heard that there is a subset or seperate set with only J. Robinson. Any help or links would be greatly appreciated.

Scott I could be wrong but if I remm the Robinson subset was issued only in the brooklyn area? I remm when you bought those and many people claimed yours were reprints? I see that they have been authenticated. Good job!

    Good for you.
  • A761506 is probably the poster to ask. He was selling a few bond bread robinson's on this board awhile ago.
  • Thanks Steve and major. I was waiting for Josh to chime in as i know he has alot of experiance with these oddball sets.
As an aside because i'm sure it will come up GAI graded them because i heard PSA does not do these, And it took all this time because they had some extra people come in and look at them because of the ? about the corner's. Remmember that there is a commen belief that any with squared corners are from the 80's. But that turned out not to be true as only about 1/2 the set turned up in that large find and did not even include the larger stars for the most part. I must admit that i was very happy that GAI seemed to take the time to research this and hopefully have gotton to the bottom of it. It works out great from a collector's standpoint if they will fill some of the nich area's that others are not doing right now.

By the way Steve i know that you are the resident 52 bowman expert and would love to get anymore relevant info regarding that set. The post you made about the Bill werle from said set was something i never heard of. I am about 50 cards from completion in 6-8 grades. Any help and advice would be great.

Scott thanks for the compliment but I am by no means an expert on that set. I do however have a completed set that I built from scratch between 1979 and 1988 mainly and updated when I discovered ebay. I know some about the set but would not consider myself an expert.

thanks though for the compliment and if I have any info on it that you could use i would gladly share.
