Question on KM 1801-1900 Book..

I'm going to get one and was wondering if an older addition would suit me. I will use it mainly for identifying coins. Do the prices for the coins actually change that much in a few years? I know that some will but I would imagine about 95% stay about the same. Of course I'm looking to save a few bucks by buying an older edition. Will this suit my needs or should I just get the newest edition. Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, for that purpose an older volumn is FAR better. I believe , and other will correct me, that tha 2nd Edition had all the years before 1900 to 1600. The 3rd edition was broken into three volumns ,one for each century from 1900 back to 1600

You know, an older edition will serve you quite well, provided... (wait for it)

...you do not beat yourself up wondering about value changes in some of your important coins over the last few years. In which case you will break down and buy the latest edition and then resell the older one (as I did).image

Other than that, you're right, prices shouldn't have changed that much, with certain exceptions...image

Thanks for the info. Anyone know what edition that would be. I've found deals on the 22nd and 24th. I can't get a good description or a picture of a cover to look at the dates it covers. Thanks again.--Kurt
  • The '96 is the 23rd edition and has an orange and silver-gray cover.
