Hedger, I have found that is is easier (at least for me) rather than to do the zooming with my camera, but to crop it and resize it in iPhoto (Mac program). This way I dont do much fiddling with my camera but the computer does it for me automatically
I agree - it looks like you got a decent shot with accurate color and good lighting.
We just need to see more coin and less background - unless you are planning on selling it on ebay - then it would look perfect
Are you using a Macro setting on the camera? This would usually translate to a digital picture with so many pixels that you end up having to re-size the picture DOWN after cropping.
Sort of looks like the photos I take on my Bar-B-Que outside. As already mentioned try to fine a program to crop the photo to just coin. If your camera does not have a macro setting but does have a filter ring, check the mm size and hit a photo store for a close up filter lens. Vivitar makes a 3 set series of +1 to +3.
