Questions on Safety Deposit Boxes

Okay, my collection has gotten to the point that I really need to exile my better coins to a bank vault. I primarily collect copper coinage. My thoughts are:

1. Store them in the blue PCGS style boxes in one of the protective bags that are sold.
2. Place a dessicant in the box.

Anybody have any thoughts on this, or other ideas. I really don't want my red copper to turn while in the bank box.

I store my slabbed coins in individual Intercept Shield holders that are then stored in the Intercept Shield box that holds ten individual holders. This is then wrapped in a food-grade freezer bag such as a Glad bag. A food-grade bag is needed as food-grade plastic cannot contain PVC. I then store this in my safe deposit box. In this way I am proteceted from the pumped in humidity and also have a level of protection against a fire supression system.

I was in this situation about two years ago and asked that same question here. I store mine in PCGS boxes(the few NGC coins are loose) with the dissacant(sp?). I inquired about the air being pumped in and they don't do it. I actually had last week off and brought everything home to look closely at them. All seems to be well. If I remember correctly, Tom B helped me at that time too.

I also use the Intercept Shield boxes like TomB but do not put them in plastic bags. I do put a silica gel container in there to keep the humidity down. Look at the area where the SD Box is - does it have a sprinkler system? In my case there is not a sprinkler head anywhere near my SDB - any humidity from the air conditioning system will be taken care of with the silica gel.

I just put entire books of coins like the Whitman classics in a plastic freezer bags and put them in the safe deposit boxes. I've been doing that for about 40 to 50 years and no ill effects yet.
